Christopher Sperry Photogr 0 Posted October 11, 2013 A beautiful photograph of nature. I like the composition, and the framing of the milkweed. It is a dreamy photograph, and the contrast to the background really sets the main subject on display. This appears to be black&white, with perhaps sepia toning. Not sure, but I like it.One, or one and a half stops more open aperture would be interesting -- providing a bit more softness to the background. Regardless, a very well done photograph Dennie. Rick Bortnick 2,167 Posted October 11, 2013 Dennie,Lovely image. I agree with Christopher except for the background comment. I really like the texture you have & softening it would remove it. I also think that it would soften the hairs around the edges, again, a textural thing. regardless, thanks for this one.Rick Link to comment
LineMartel 6,431 Posted October 11, 2013 This is beautiful! I think the DOF is just right as is... the background would not look smoother by opening the lens as I think the textural effect is caused by shadows and highlights. Link to comment
dennieanne 0 Posted October 11, 2013 Many thanks to Line, Rick and Christopher for taking the time to comment. My expertise is very limited and my equipment very basic, so it really means a lot to hear what you have to say. I love that you like my photo. Thanks! Link to comment
stp 6 Posted October 11, 2013 The silky texture of the white milkweeds is strikingly beautiful, and I really like the contrast in both color and texture between the milkweed and the background. While the background could be softened even more, I'd hate to lose the contrast you are currently able to show -- that's an important part of the photograph for me. Link to comment
