Vlado 0 Posted October 2, 2013 Very effective tight crop and fine details look just great, your focussing is working!
LenMarriott 9 Posted October 2, 2013 If you recall, this was a lucky grab shot taken as we walked by these pups. ISO 6400 was an accident caused by me not resetting the camera controls after a previous session. 6400 reproduces much better than I expected. Luck is good! :-) Best, LM.
museebfoto 2 Posted October 2, 2013 Hi LenI liked the composition, the very fine tonality and details. They seems in a very nice affection.
LenMarriott 9 Posted October 2, 2013 This one was cropped from a horizontal original. (artistic license) :-) Their shyness likely comes from suddenly being thrust into a more or less chaotic environment with many strange people & other dogs, as well as the very loud PA system used to announce & give commentary on competitive doggy events. Thanks for your interest. Best, LM.
LenMarriott 9 Posted October 4, 2013 Yes, Henry's had a decent price on the D5100 and two kit lenses so I finally bit the bullet & shelled out. I'm now fully into the 21st Century. We'll have to get together to give it a workout shortly. (after a coffee of course) No more scanning! Yay! Still trying to work out a personal shooting method. Not sure I'm fully confident in the 'Auto Everything' settings but I'm sure I'll find my groove soon. Thanks for the validation. Best, LM.
gib 0 Posted October 9, 2013 congratulations on the technological leap forward, with your high quality "eye" - results should be terrific, coffee soon, my schedule is getting a little shake up right now, let me clue you in after all the dust settles
LenMarriott 9 Posted October 9, 2013 You have the lead. I await your call/e-mail. Stay well! Best, LM.
w-j-li 0 Posted October 21, 2013 Excellent work. Sharp details and well done contract. So it looks very good in B/W. Best Regards,
LenMarriott 9 Posted October 21, 2013 Thanks for your observations. Accidentally taken at a totally unnecessary ISO 6400. (new camera, still on the toe of the learning curve) Looked better to me in B&W for some reason. Best, LM.
Pierre Dumas 496 Posted October 28, 2013 Puppies are always so cute, great capture, Len! Best regards PDE
LenMarriott 9 Posted October 28, 2013 Yah, who could resist? Good to have another visit from you. Best, LM.
Christal1664882414 0 Posted October 29, 2013 Who could resist these adorable pups? Great grab shot, and it's hard to believe this was taken at 6400. Did you use any noise reduction software? Anyway, it turned out great.....no apologies needed for this! :-)
LenMarriott 9 Posted October 30, 2013 No noise reduction that I can recall though I may have done some minor tweaking in Photoshop. The light was basically good. (open shade) Lucky that it turned out as good as it did I guess. In reality I'm discovering that in good light, at least, ISO 6400 isn't unacceptable at all, especially with small prints or web sizes such as this. (coming from a Canon A540 P&S) That said, I'll not willingly make a habit of going that high with the ISO. Thanks for your visit. Best, LM.
LenMarriott 9 Posted February 21, 2014 Your constructive comment\critique will be gratefully received. LM.
LenMarriott 9 Posted February 22, 2014 Though I wouldn't classify myself as a dog lover I couldn't resist this opportunity. Too cute! Vlad Khodsky, , a fine street shooter, was my shooting partner that day. Thanks for your visit & comment. Best, LM.
Not Here 93 Posted February 23, 2014 Technology is great and the new stuff opens up creativity, but the most important element is that you saw and pushed the button on this precious capture. I'm a dogger and this is irresistible. Great shot and good luck with the new camera... Mike
LenMarriott 9 Posted February 24, 2014 Dogger (is that even a word? :-) ) or not I think most, with a camera, would stop to invest a frame or two on these two cuties. With me it was instinctive so there must be a dog (or at least a puppy) lover hidden inside somewhere. I just don't have a desire to own. My very early days with my D5100 when I was still on the toe of the learning curve. Thanks for taking the time. Best, LM.
