cmouli 0 Posted September 15, 2013 Cloudy skies welcomed me when I reached the Desert View point in Grand Canyon. After absorbing all the grand scenery I was waiting patiently in the edge of the canyon for the sun to illuminate the canon walls. I was not disappointed. Comments welcome. Link to comment
AlainD 0 Posted September 15, 2013 A truly superb shot, especially the sky which is amazing!I wish there would be a tad more contrast/pop on the moutains maybe. And there's a dust spot in the clouds in the upper part of the image. But these are minor problems. That would be a 6 if on could rate it.Best regards,Alain Link to comment
cmouli 0 Posted September 16, 2013 Alain, thanks for your comments. Such keen observations and helpful comments like yours are the reasons why I continue to participate in photo.net. I have made minor edits to the image - to remove the two dust spots and to slightly increase the contrast, selectively. Yes, the sky was the reason I took this shot. It was truly amazing to watch the clouds roll-in and then clear up right when the twilight hit those peaks in the canyon! Thanks again for your helpful comments. Link to comment
dogodonoghue 0 Posted September 16, 2013 This shot does not work for me and I know that you will be disappointed to read this but bear with me.The sky above is very dull and uninteresting to the viewer of the photograph even though when you were there taking the shot I'm sure it was really amazing. Unfortunately, the overall shot looks unbalanced. The viewer wants to see more of the colourful valleys and rocks and I agree with Alain that they need more punch; the burning-in of the sky has hit the rocks and made them darker at the top of the bottom third and this just looks careless rather than dramatic.Sorry to be so negative about your picture but that is how I see it.Best regards,Patrick Link to comment
JeffBryce 0 Posted September 16, 2013 I really love these clouds and the colors. And while I generally prefer verticals, I think this would have worked even better as a super-wide horizontal. Link to comment
cmouli 0 Posted September 18, 2013 Jeff, thanks. I have posted a panorama (merge of 5 wide angle shots) of the same scene. Please see: http://photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=17531051 Link to comment
JeffBryce 0 Posted September 18, 2013 Chandra, I viewed the 5-shot merge. It looks great. What I had in mind was something less panoramic, but I think what you created works very well. Link to comment
