I came upon this scene after the area was in the shadows of the

mountain behind me. I've done what I could to recover and make the

exposure even over the entire scape. Any suggestions as to what would

make it better?

If you use Lightroom, you could use the Adjustment Brush (just below histogram, at least, in LR3) to lighten up the dark foliage and tree trunks. Actually though, it doesn't look bad as is. GJ

This is a beautiful shot for sure. It reminds me of the Halliburton, Ontario area which I have visited many times. However, as you mentioned it was in a mountain area, my guess is likely wrong. Best wishes.
