stp 6 Posted August 13, 2013 I often don't like the effects of the CPL if it includes a wide portion of the sky. You often end up with a very dark portion with lighter portions of blue on either side. That's what you have here, especially on the left. To my eye, it looks very unnatural, although I know many people don't mind this effect. I use a CPL with great caution on wide angle shots and at high altitudes -- the effects sometimes get out of hand and look artificial, IMO. I use the CPL without these worries when reducing reflections from foliage within a forest. Link to comment
javedrassi 3 Posted August 13, 2013 It enhances the clouds and the sky in IMO, I use it all the time for landscapes. Link to comment
Larry_G1664882113 15 Posted August 14, 2013 Javed, I like this shot a lot. You have an artistic perspective, and the ocotillo on the right frames the image well and helps move the eye up the hill. I understand Stephen's point and agree to a point, but think that the dark blue sky contrasts well with the red rock. I have my polarizing screen on much of the time for landscapes and have to think about taking it off when necessary. It's tough to think of all the technical stuff while concentrating on getting an artistic image. Nice job here. Larry Link to comment
