Only In My Dreams

19_09_2009 for Main Image but I've used so many layers in the composition. The Exif Data is not of much use in this case.

I imagine you dream in such wavelengths probably due to all your studies over the years. It would not surprise me if you said you dreamed of flying, way up high where those beautiful celestial bodies are. You delve so deeply into your love of your telescope work, even to the extent that you plan out your images, this I would have to think would influence your dreams!! We are fortunate if we can have wonderful dreams, some even that inspire us!!

I so enjoyed reading your comments!! Dreams are certainly interesting to discuss. I know many of mine arise out of problems I have not solved during the day and lay heavy on the mind. Some think that it is the mind's way of trying to solve a problem. Others I totally cannot understand, and wonder how and why I ever dreamt that dream!!! But dreams can be a comfort as well. It is an image of my Mom as a very young schoolgirl and one of her holding me as a baby, one I really love. My Mom looked so beautiful in that photo. I cannot see her anymore, but I can 'feel' her. I smell her perfume, I look back at old Photos, I remember her cooking when I eat something I know she enjoyed. I have her old sewing machine, one of her possessions I wanted most, and when I use it, I can really relate to her. The sewing machine has the odour of the machine oil, the drawers are filled with her mending items, scissors, old thread, lace, patterns, dressmaker pins, all things that she touched over and over again. She made me many of my clothes when I was a little girl and growing up. So lovingly made. I recall going with her to pick out material. When I started to learn to sew, she helped me so often. These things, these memories, these dreams, that take me back, that comfort and enforce in me what a wonderful woman and example she was. (Thank you Mom) and thank you Panayotis for causing me to pause and recall these things!

Your thoughts shared certainly give me pause to 'waunder'. I agree with a lot you say. For the most part, repetitive dreams I have are more like 'nighmares'. When I was a young child and was sick with a fever, I would always have the same dream. My poor mother, she swears at times they were 'night terrors'. I would not be surprised. My daughter Shauna used to get them and Shaelyn has had them also. Funny, you never remember having them, but the parent is terrified for the child at the moment!!! Shauna used to laugh at me when I would recount what happened. She mostly got them when she was overheated in bed, if it was very hot and humin (no air con.), She always liked to have her favorite  blanket on, no matter how hot it was. Some dreams just 'weird you out', others, 'comfort', and some take us to places we could only reach in our dreams. Thanks so much Alf for sharing your thoughts on dreams and your appreciation of this image.

Warmest regards, Gail

A very apt title and skilful processing . I like the toning and overal texture binding it all together . Not sure if that is brush work or filter you've used on the portraits part of the image , but it is very effective . Using the window was a stroke of genius . I won't mention dreams , enough as already been said on that subject . Excellent and creative work ! Bill

This is cool...the title seems appropriate and really conveys the murky nature of dreams...something familiar but distant, something real but impossible to touch...a nice composite, well done.

Thank you so much for dropping by and sharing your thoughts on this image. Funny, I can be dreaming, awaken and be aware of what I was dreaming of , and go right back into the dream. I don't mind when it is a pleasant dream. thankfully I don't have too many bad ones.

I just used the Radial Blur but at a very low setting on 'zoom'. Thanks for your kind words of critique Bill, you know how much I appreciate hearing from you.
