Very nice Colin!! I'm just curious as I am practicing with handheld all the time, did you use a Tripod??  And with that lens, do you use Autofocus or do you Manually focus??? My Canon 100mm f2.8, to get a sharp image I have to manually focus. Only asking so I can learn more. Very unusual flower with lovely color!

Dear Gail, thank you for your kind words. I do use a tripod for macro shots as my hands shake a bit these days. My 55mm macro lens is about 30 years old and does not have an auto focus option. Best regards Col.

Colin Nice fireworks

Gail for macros I always use manual focus with a tripod also

if your camera has the feature mirror up, live view zoom into the image with the + as close as you can get then adjust the focus then with your third hand try to block the wind it might not seem windy until you are on the macro level then with your fourth hand you can always try adding a reflector sometimes it's easier to bring everything inside

Hi Giuseppe, This image is from a "Flowering Gum" tree ( an Australian native eucalypt.) The tree developes large bunches - about 15cm - 20 cm across all over the tree which flower in the spring. The flowers are about 1cm in diameter.Thanking you for your comment . Best regards Col.
