dave_dise1 0 Posted July 8, 2013 William, I like this crop better. I also like John's pose and expression better here. It looks like he is inwardly smiling for some reason. IMO the shading is good as is the focus and DOF. I don't have experience shooting faces so don't know enough to give you any helpful tips. Link to comment
ruudalbers 1 Posted July 9, 2013 A beautiful result again with very nice lighting, Bill! Link to comment
stp 6 Posted July 9, 2013 I think the light is excellent. I don't do portraits, but I'd give some thought to separating the rim of his glasses from his eye's iris. The eyes are so important, I don't want to cover them in any way. Maybe if the glasses were just pushed back and/or a very slightly lower position of the camera. Link to comment
GailAnthonyHarmer 6 Posted July 9, 2013 I agree about the crop and light Bill, and this one has us seeing a bit of mischief in John's eyes and expression. I think I'd like him! Link to comment
panayotis_papadopoulos 0 Posted July 10, 2013 That's a cool photo my friend! The communication between the photographer and the model worked fine, congrats! Link to comment
vancouverphotographer 1 Posted August 21, 2013 Nice, I like this one better than the other one, the light is interesting and the pose/expression and angle is great. Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted September 27, 2015 I think B&W portraits of men is really your strong suit. Not to diminish your other offerings but I like these best. The lighting is simple but effective and the monotone presentation is classic. Sharpness throughout doesn't hurt either. Excellent character study. Looks like someone I'd enjoy having a beer with. Best, Len. Link to comment
