steve_brummund 0 Posted August 13, 2003 I put my first photo up yesterday and have thoroughly enjoyed the feedback I've received on the photo (On the Farm). Thank you to those who take the time to critique my photos. I plan on returning the favor soon. Once again, all comments are welcome. Link to comment
wparsons 0 Posted August 13, 2003 Good stuff here. I think I'd crop out the windmill on the far left because the blade being cut off looks accidental, and the extra space on that side doesn't do anything for the photo. Also maybe cut some of the foreground at the bottom of the frame. My only major gripe is the frame you've put on it. The shadow makes the image look BADLY vignetted, and the border is just way too thick. Link to comment
john_kroy 0 Posted August 13, 2003 Nearly good. Detractions include: the frame, the missing bit of the left windmill. Plus points: apart from the left windmill, really nice composition, excellent sharp line between the sky and the green. A nice sense of remoteness and self sufficiency. Link to comment
ken_thalheimer 3,739 Posted August 13, 2003 Good shot. I agree with Warren and John regarding the crop at left, bottom and the frame Link to comment
steve_brummund 0 Posted August 13, 2003 Thanks for the positive criticisms. You guys are right. I'm not sure why I didn't remove the left windmill. I've cropped it out before and liked the end result. I should've used the cropped picture instead of my original. I wasn't sure about the frame. You have confirmed my doubts on that. Thanks again for your input. Link to comment
john_kroy 0 Posted August 14, 2003 Just to clarify, I like the frame, just not the 3d effect. A simple border is all that is required in my opinion. Link to comment
laura_v. 0 Posted August 16, 2003 Is this near Sweetwater, TX? Those wind generators have always given me an creepy feeling. Alien looking. Interesting photo. Link to comment
steve_brummund 0 Posted August 16, 2003 I know what you mean about the alien feeling. They're so enormous, kind of reminds me of the movie Contact. This farm is near Pincher Creek, Alberta. Beautiful country. Link to comment
carol_watson 0 Posted August 19, 2003 Cool shot!! I recognize this area -- I lived in the Crowsnest Pass for many years. :-) Link to comment
