Timothy,

Beautiful, simple, serene image.  Your photography makes many statements ... all of them tender & positive.  Thanks for this one.

Thanks for your comment on my burrowing owl shot.

I like this story being fully told without distraction. The simplicity and silhouette style make you focus on the main subject and not be distracted by many colors or insignificant shapes.

As a new photographer, I had to learn to not shoot first then figure out what I wanted. I now first study a scene and ask what it is I want to convey in as much detail as I can. Then I look at the scene and go through the process of seeing how best I can convey that thought. I take into consideration things like what is the main subject, what clutter would be distracting and how can it be avoided, and are there features in the scene that will draw the eye to the subject and to use them. I found many times a scene had the concept I wanted but had distractions that could not be avoided. I used to shoot them anyway - now I pass them by and look for what will really be good. (Sometimes I will shoot with the knowledge I can PS a distraction out later, but I try to shoot it right the first time) This means much more time studying a scene or finding the right scene. That time though is where I really started to learn.

Hope some of this may help you get to where you want to be in photography.

What  a  nice use of an unusual " reddish" BG light. The trio are very well telling a story, and creating a beautiful atmospher of relations between them.Very  good  result of PP and  execution!.

Thank you so much for your nice comments! The reddish background light was a spectacular sunset behind the levee of the Mississippi River. I was just very fortunate to be in the right place at the right time with this one! Thanks for visiting!

I like this one. You gave us all we needed to see to express your 'vision' in this one. Thoughts of childhood come to me when I view this one. I think most people could connect with this one in some way.

Hi Gail,

I am so pleased that you like this one. It was very much a "golden hour" shot, a spectacular sunset had just occurred behind these three. As a dad and a dog lover, I have a soft spot for this one!
