Colin,I like the idea you have here to compose this rose with a dark mood bg,is really interesting.After I saw first image open I open large view,same mood creates by bg in contrast with main subject nice petals details(especially in right part),I do not like to much the left petals edge that has some distorsion in large view.I appreciate your idea and the observation above is a minor one,all my best my friend.
