Full moon 01

oliver_indra

Well, I literally photoshopped the original pic to death! Model shot was recorded in 3:2 mode at bright sunny daylight. About the moon pic:The image of the Moon itself was taken through the U-band filter at the 0.9-meter telescope. It is superimposed on a deep R-band image of the background sky taken at the Mayall 4-meter telescope. This composite image demonstrates the large field of view of the 0.9-meter telescope when using Mosaic, a view that covers more than five times the area of the Moon. It furnishes this large field of view without sacrificing high resolution - details as small as a few kilometers across can be seen on the lunar surface.Moon pic is used with the friendly permission of:T.A.Rector, I.P.Dell'Antonio/NOAO/AURA/NSF

Be aware that there are limits even to photoshop. No.1) I am learning this program since PS 3.0, means since 1992 or so.

No. 2) The real secret is to shoot your basic material in the best way possible. Don´t make the BIG mistake to lean on ps during you are taking shots already. For example this pic: I wrote that I photoshopped it to death. Well, not completely true. The model shot is still quite what it was when it came out the camera, the moon was also not changed a lot. Just the composit was created in ps and of course corrected wherever necessary, like blurring the edges of the frames, bettering up the red of her hair, slight color correcting. But that´s that!

Without having good original material I would never even try to create any stuff like this. I am a camera operator and I have a lot of coleagues relying completely on post production, a fashion that came up with digital video. They end up disappointed quite often!

You have a great portfolio. This picture stands out for me even though it is digitally manipulated. I like the detail and effort you put into creating the lighting. Great silhouette. Keep up the good work.

Oliver,

Very well done. Your skills in Photoshop compliment your skills in Photography. I think the digital darkroom is the next wave to ride and you are out front!
