Full moon 01

oliver_indra

Well, I literally photoshopped the original pic to death! Model shot was recorded in 3:2 mode at bright sunny daylight. About the moon pic:The image of the Moon itself was taken through the U-band filter at the 0.9-meter telescope. It is superimposed on a deep R-band image of the background sky taken at the Mayall 4-meter telescope. This composite image demonstrates the large field of view of the 0.9-meter telescope when using Mosaic, a view that covers more than five times the area of the Moon. It furnishes this large field of view without sacrificing high resolution - details as small as a few kilometers across can be seen on the lunar surface.Moon pic is used with the friendly permission of:T.A.Rector, I.P.Dell'Antonio/NOAO/AURA/NSF

Hi there!

I´d really like to know what you think about this one. Well, we

worked on it a bit in ps as you may have guessed already and I can

hear the screams of all you puritans out there, but: I have enough

unmanipulated stuff in my portfolio to prove that I know how to

simply pull the trigger. At least I hope so. This picture will be

used for a flyer layout maybe. Any constructive inputs are highly

appreciated.

Greetings,

Amazing. I love how she is silhouetted by the moon. The moon is so spectacular looking in this shot too. The bars of the window also work really well!

I love this photo Oliver, very cool idea. I just wish the model was centered. I like your technique. 6/6

Original idea!

How did you mount the camera on the telescope?

I've got a F707 too and a small mirror telescope, would love to try shots of the moon, but need a decent adapter.

I am freaking out on things like astrophysics and stuff but I do not know anything about how to use a telescope, just because I do not have the money to buy one that suits me. As far as I know you can buy adapters for literally all kind of cameras, I just hope I will be able to do it soon. I would be very interested in deep space photography. The moon pic is not mine as you can take from the technical description. Thanx for taking your time to rate and comment!

aaaUUUUUUuuuuuu...

heh, the moon is so much fantasy kitsch, that my first thought was, why isn't she chained to the bars? ; )

Sorry to tell you that the moon is exactly the only thing in this pic that was not manipulated at all. Go there http://www.seds.org/messier/xtra/m-crat2.html

to check yourself. But someone like you living in an unstable soliton multiverse and being obviously aware of it should know that anyway 8-) So you want me to chain her there? And that would make it less kitschy?

Yeah!

ur image has aesthetic origionality, no doubt. but it also has a strong feel of over manipulation. somethings still look beautiful even photo tempering, sometimes.

i never doubted that the moon was real or unmanipulated (as if it would matter), no, what's making it what i refer to as fantasy kitsch is simply its sheer size...

and i didn't mean it in a negative way...

"and that would make it less kitschy?"

nope, not at all... but that's exactly the point ; D

...we are all cool. I got your point, of course. I knew that this is going to come, as you can see from all the info above this will be a poster for a special kind of party!

I´m definitely not the kind of guy that could be hurt by stuff like that! You will not see the moon through all the chains I´m gonna use next time...

Oliver, I'm a big fan of your work. This picture is amazing. I have yet to find any validity in the negative comments written above. While I was viewing your photograph, the song "This Love" by Craig Armstrong was playng on my computer. Both of the moods matched perfectly, at least in my opinion. Keep up the good work.

Thanx everyone for your comments! I myself thought that this one is way beyond, so I am surprised a little bit. Chris, there are no negative comments so far, it IS kitsch, what can I do?

Thanx again for all your inputs, you make me go to work again!
