how do i do this again?

New to photography please help

This has the look o a family snapshot - get as a record of events, but not so good aesteticaly. Some suggestions on how it could be improved;

 

The focus is a bit off - the whole image is slightly blurred. (This could also be from the scanning process - it looks similar to my early attempts to scan prints using a flatbed scanner)

 

Composition wise, the girl is in a good position, but the two people on left don't work as well; it's hard to tell where one starts and the other ends because of the way they overlap. I like the hands with bread sticking in on the far right.

 

Keep at it - the best way to improve in photography is to take lots of pictures with different settings and styles, see what works and what doesn't. Enjoy!

 

In addition to the other comments, try to post smaller images please because if we have to scroll to see the image then we can't really have a proper view.
