What makes a good floral shot? Are any of the shots in my "Flowers" folder decent?

I decided to try this one in B/W. I increased the brightness and contrast after desaturating.

All my photos are touched up with The Gimp
Border/Matte done with my http://www.emptec.com/gimp/matte/">AddMatte plug-in

What makes a good Floral shot? Is B/W acceptable for floral shots?

I dont know what a really good flower shot is! But I know that I like this picture; its far better than the colour shots. I like all the grey-tones in the flower, beautiful picture!
