Depression era Birdtown. They lived through the worst of times, when it was tough to survive on just a few crumbs a day.

totally desaturated. Added background in PS. Goosed up the contrast.

I desaturated this image. It is much different from the original (see

folder). I changed the dimensions to give it more perspective...

squeezed it so the houses appear taller, and hopefully more like real

homes.

This is anothe PS experiment... I am a beginner looking for any help I

can get to improve my efforts. All comments cheerfully welcomed.

Very nice, but why crop the lower part of the houses? You could crop a small area of the upper frame for balance, too, as the sky takes too much room. The picture would probably be more successful in color. Sharpness is surprisingly bad for a digital capture. Ever thought of getting a tripod? They exist for a reason, you know.

I cropped higher to remove the advertising for credit cards (see the other version in this folder).

Regarding the resolution: I must have goofed up in PS. This has great resolution, but when I reduced the size, I must have modified it incorrectly and lost the details. I really should take lessons!

This is a great concept. If you added the background yourself - why not use a much more dramatic storm cloud background?

IT is the original background. I needed to add contrast to the background, so I separated it from the foreground, goosed the contrast, and then reapplied it to the foreground. IN this way I was able to keep the details and brightness of the houses and make the sky more dramatic.

Your photo's are definitaly different from the rest of photo.net. I like your style, very cool!

This is the photo I like best, great contrast and highly original!

Instead of cropping to take out the credit card sign, you may want to try cloning it out. Good idea for a pic though.
