Peculiar Portrait

She was seating in the cafe lobby of my school and I tried several times to take her picture and she always closed her eyes when the flash lit and camera shot! It has happened twice in my life and I can't explain to myself what was the matter! There wasn't a preflash in both cases! Simply you can't catch the model's eyes!

Maybe she was subconsciously afraid that you will take her soul with a camera.

Anyhow and anyway, this is a stunning portrait!!!!

This response to the  flash has happened to me only once.

When I lifted the camera to view the model , it was like a mouse trap being set. Her eyes would close when the flash fired.

The only way I got the shot with the eyes open was to speak to the model and take the image without her noticing the position my camera.

A unique presentation , well shot my friend.

It happen... Next time try it with manual setting. Shutter speed 90, aperture 2.4 or 2.8, take two-three shots non stop. Thus numbers work for me... I hope it will work for you also...

interesting photo of closed eyes!

I had a colleague who also always closed his eyes at flash - for the university page we had to take a professional photographer to take his photo with eyes open.

Good old fashoned matches would do the job. Allways a must  amoung Photo gear my friend. :)

I too have problem keeping eyes open when flash is used.

The question is how she (and you) manage to close the eyes before the flash is being fired Bela! I don't push the button (the old rule, don't push - squeeze) so that you can't see when the flash will fire!
