I'm finding them very "tricky" to get enough light to show any definition of the feather's in their bodies or wings.

I've been playing a bit with WB and have taken some shots without my 50D being on AWB but don't seem to get any better results with the "cloudy" or by setting the "Custom WB" with one of the previous shots within the same conditions.

The location of both nests that I am observing dictates early morning shooting. One must observe both nest facing to the west.

Still learning . . .

Jim...I think you have a fat finger.  This looks like Oklahoma...not Oregon which I see in your Detail tab.  LOL.
