stephen fair 0 Posted August 1, 2003 I find the flowers in the background and the fact that you've cropped the tip of the wing rather distracting Link to comment
jerm 0 Posted August 1, 2003 the wing is not crop....the problem it is that the butterfly move and and when i take the shoot it was moving.....the flower is out of focus because in macro the depth is very difficult to be perfect...anyway you give me 3/3...if you think you are fair....but i think that it is a little bit too low Link to comment
oskar_t_hardt 0 Posted August 1, 2003 3/3 is way to low !!. I think this is a very good shot, not a perfect one, but very good though (colors, dof) It is very difficult to take pictures of butterflies.. I know all about that, so I can imagine what technical problems you had to overcome when taking this picture. So I think you did a good job. Link to comment
vlad po... 1 Posted August 1, 2003 "very difficult to take pictures of butterflies" (???) Come on, Oskar, what is the problem, here on PN a lot of this kind of stuff and I haven't head anybody complained. I have to agree with Stephen. Jeremie, you didn't understand. Stephen meant, that those flowers are too sharp. If your objective here to show butterfly, than you should isolate all the background using DOF. The butterfly is nice, but it's merging with flowers in background that detracts attention from main subject. Nobody asks WHY the wing is cut, it's up to photographer to capture object as best as possible. But the wing is cut and it's weaken the image. Just make more shots next time. Link to comment
alice harrison 0 Posted August 2, 2003 wonderful shot, one of the best butterfly shots i've seen. the colors are perfect, lighting is good and good composition. best regards. Link to comment
michael_wagner2 0 Posted August 3, 2003 Very nice. It is unfortunate that the tip of the wing was cut off, but it is darned hard to always get your images cropped correctly in real time in the wild.I think you did a pretty good job with the background as well. as for the 3/3 rating, all I can say is ???????????????????????? stephen fair 0 Posted August 4, 2003 My comments still stand and thanks to Vlad for elaborating on the DOF issue. But, yes, I agree I was a little harsh with a 3/3, how about a 5/4? Link to comment
