Hi Brian,

I have been following your high speed photographs for quite some time now. Some of them are amazing. I would like to imagine this one, for example, as dancers under pink spot light! Mind telling us the technique? Do you give the colors during post-processing? Thank you.

Best regards,

Ajay.

Hi Ajay,

Thank you for your comments and questions. Wonderful title for this image: dancers under pink spot light.

You ask about the technique:

I use light from Speedlite flashes. The flashes are set to 1/128 of the normal output. That gives a flash duration of 1/40.000 sec. I take the pictures in a dark room with the camera open. Flash duration = exposure time of 1/40.000 sec. The movement is frozen.
Aperture is set to f/32 for the greatest DOF.

I don't give the colours during post-processing. I use coloured liquids. I this image blue and red coloured milk.

Best regards, Brian

Hi Brian,

I learn every time I visit PN. Sometimes more, sometimes less. Today I learned quite a bit! Thank you very much for the wonderful explanation of your technique of speed photography. I haven't bought a flash for my DSLR. I would very much like to try what you have done so successfully. Someday soon...! Thank you very much Brian.

with regards,

Ajay.
