Akaroa must be one of the most beautiful places on the planet. Quite interesting too,

as it is an extinct volcano and part of a French settlement in New Zealand! (check it

out in Google Earth if you can). On a good day the skies are blue, the water is

turquoise and the rolling hills are a kaleidoscope of greens. This photo is a scan of a

Velvia 50 slide. I hope it captured the almost 'impressionist painting' quality of the

original. Strong critiques are always welcome. Thanks.

Alfredo, Thanks for sharing this nice image.  My wife and I are Aotearoa fans.  We were in NZ for three weeks last March.  Is this the southeastern tip of the South Island?   We didn't get there, only as far south as Dunedin on the east coast.  Feel free to visit my NZ images.  Thanks again.  Larry

Akaroa and Duvauchelle are just half hour east of Christchurch, facing the Pacific ocean. It is an absolute beauty from the air, as it is a perfectly preserved volcanic cone but inactive, fortunately!. I sincerely recommend you visit it next time.

I sent you a message to your Photonet Personal Messages Inbox. Thanks for your comments. Kindest regards.

Alfredo

I agree, a great place. Hope to see it looking like this on another visit. Unfortunately last year we struck bad weather and abandoned our drive out onto the peninsular because we couldn't see very far ahead!
