After reading a few horror stories about visiting Venice I decided to take my wife

there in mid Spring, not in the high season during the summer months. There were

enough people around to make it feel like a vibrant community, but it was not

crowded, the air was fresh and there was no "canal" smell as some reported. It is

difficult to take a bad picture of Venice I guess, but equally difficult to capture all its

splendour. I liked this one in particular. I preferred to photograph the Gondolas

rowing away from the photo as opposed to advancing towards the photo, as

passengers are less self aware and do not tend to salute at the camera, which

somewhat spoils the spontaneity of the moment. Strong critiques are always

welcome. Thanks.
