Lovely picture of a cute, confident-looking animal. Nice background enhances the photo very much!

Hi, Gail! Beautiful capture! I know the place! And I am so glad to say it, because it feels great to learn the places, the culture , the history of the country you chose to be your home. Every step makes me feel as if I become lesser stranger to it. They say, first generation of immigrants - is lost generation. It is may be right, but hurts to think so. Though every day there's something new....

Hugs, Tamara

I don't think the first generation of immigrants is a 'lost generation'. Perhaps it depends on the Person, how fluent they are in the language, if they have found work here etc. You work, you explore, and are not afraid to do so. I think perhaps there are some who must 'fall through the cracks' just as us Canadians do. Sometimes there just isn't access for all to the Health Care, jobs, etc. Some are more fortunate than others. Quite often one is fortunate to be - as they say, 'in the right place at the right time', and things go easier for them. It touches me that you are so happy and proud to make Canada your home. You have ventured so far even in just the past 2 years. Keep up that drive and 'passion' to learn about this country. One day I hope you get to visit the Mountains in Alberta (Jasper/Canmore/Banff etc Neil Jolly's backyard!!!) It is so beautiful it takes your breath away. I hope you enjoy your Vacation in Florida. I am sure you will have great times with your daughter!!! Bring back lots of beautiful images Tamara!!!

Gail,

This so reminds me of "Pip Squeak" the chipmunk who lived with me for 7 years.  I used to open the back door so he could escape.  He would run off, but then return to his little nesting cage on top of the refrigerator.  It was up there to prevent the cats from getting to him.

If you ever have the chance, feed a chipmunk a strawberry.  They individually pick all the tiny seeds off and crack them before eating the flesh of the berry itself.  Thanks for bringing back all the memories.

What a lovely story!! and I did not know about the Strawberries. I will also tell my daughter and grandchildren about them!!!  When I was about 13, I babysat the children of 'friends of the family' at their summer cottage. The lady next door had a very similar experience with a Chipmunk!! Whis one spent most of it's time at her cottage. It would 'ask' to come in the side door, she would open it and give it numerous treats. It was so wonderful to watch. I knew they were quite tame, but this little fellow really surprised me. During the week I spent there I had many wonderful times with that woman and her 'dear little friend'. Many thanks for your visit and sharing your story!!!

Hi Gail,

Technically spot on using F/5.6 with your particular zoom lens.

A well illuminated and exposed scene.

Nice presentation all around.

Warmest Regards,  Mike

This one's not only a cute picture but also one that shows off your compositional skills. I don't have a clue what this little guy is, some kind of house pet, I guess. But as adorable (not a word a man should use but I can't think of another at 6:30 am) as this fellow is, it wouldn't have worked without the angle you have chosen, placing his head against the dark background.

Hi Jack,

This is a Chipmunk, a wild little creature, smaller than a squirrel that is in most places in Southern Ontario. (tends to be more in the country than city, but they venture there). This was taken at a Wildlife Habitat that builds little bird houses for the birds, the Chipmunks and Squirrels tend to be nosy and check them out. They are quite tame if you have nuts in your hands, but this particular day, I was quite lucky to get the images I did as they weren't sitting still for long. I have a couple more in my Nature Folder. I will check to see if I have an image with just black in the background, not quite sure. Many thanks for your lovely compliments Jack, I do appreciate your thoughts on my images very much. ;-) GAil
