davidv 0 Posted July 27, 2003 Lonely trees are always a pleasure to see. Nice toutch with the dark areas in trees.. Link to comment
jeff d 1 Posted July 27, 2003 The tree appears to be reaching up to touch the cloud. Very good image... you may want to try darkening it a bit. I need sunglasses to look at this. Link to comment
brandon hale 0 Posted July 28, 2003 I like lonely tree images. I think that I would have used a longer lens to flatten the prospective a little, would have taken the cloud out a little but I think pulling the background in a just a bit would have balanced the image a little better also using a dark red filter #25 to darkened the sky and bring out the clouds a little more, it would also cut the haze in the distance. I am not sure that would change the exposure, looks like zone V is on the distant mountains and I think that is just about right. I am just being picky overall I like the image. Link to comment
dennis_couvillion 2 Posted July 28, 2003 Predrag: I like this shot very much. The composition and tonality are wonderful. The ethereal cloud formation in the upper right is what makes the shot, in my opinion. Although the tree is rooted in the earth, the way the tree leans towards the clouds it lends an air of lightness to the tree, suggesting that the tree is being lifted into the clouds. In effect, rather than being static, as many landscape shots are, this shot is unusually dynamic. (I hope this doesn't sound too artsy-fartsy, but that's how I see the shot.) I like it a lot. Well done. Link to comment
brad_hayden 0 Posted July 28, 2003 Great B&W shot. Just the right amount of clouds that lead you into the middle of the frame. Link to comment
paul_frank 0 Posted July 29, 2003 interesting arrangement of parts that works. Edge burning is a common b&w technique which helps draw attention toward the middle of the image. Many images tend to have density fall-off towards the edges (as you have here) which tends to lead the eyes away from a central subject (which you have here). Darkening the edges serves to keep the eyes in the middle of the frame, which would help here. the bright lower right could be burned in as well. otherwise, the detail in shadows and highlights is good, and as I said before, the placement of elements is well done.
