Derrick,

As a fellow cat lover photographer I would like to help you make this image a little better.  You will notice in the original that the cat is not focused sharply - every part is a little fuzzy.  Also you have a very bright wall behind the cat but little light on the cat's face.  Photography is always about light and what it does by reflecting from your subject.

One of the marvels of digital photography is that so much can be done to correct problems like these.  In the "modified cat image" I used tools to increase the local contrast and sharpness of the fur, brightened the cat's image, and increased the effect of what little high light was reflecting in each eye.  Unfortunately I may have overdone the total effect.  Without having seen your cat I cannot tell.

If your camera has a built-in flash I suggest you rephotograph the cat by using it to get that needed light in front.  If your camera does not have a built-in flash, an attachable flash might be in your next photography wish list. Meanwhile check out the existing light in future pics and feel free to move the subject to a place where natural or artificial light helps.

My regards,

Jerry Matchett
