Any comments or ratings welcome; particularly regarding technical

aspects; I was forced to handhold this and am wondering whether

particular focussing techniques could give a more satisfactory shot.

Quite right Beppe.

My biggest issue with this shot was controlling the noise; ants move fast so I needed a fast shutter speed - 1/200 was the lowest I could get away with, and even with a minimum DOF of 5.6 I still needed to push the ISO to 6400; hence the noise.

What I've learned from this is that people must presumably use very very powerful lights for macro work; my bounce flash just didn't cut it!

Ahem, I meant largest aperture I could get away with at f/5.6... DOF was too narrow otherwise.

I would have been better off with a tripod and more light, but did the best I could handheld...
