Great shot!! I've captured a couple of hummingbirds in flight, but I've never managed to get one as well focused as this one -- mine had a motion blur in the wings. This is a terrific hummer shot! Your patience was rewarded, most definitely! Gorgeous warm colors and great detail in the little claws too!

A common subject, but a rather amazing treatment. Stunningly clear and vivid.

Now I know how long it takes to shoot a hummingbird - and to think I spent two days at Carnaval in Rio (where one school was Beija Flor - hummingbird). Nice capture. Have to read other comments - did you set up backdrop? Just curious.

wow... very nice shot!

There is a gray house about 50 meters behind this bird which is obviously out of focus. Since I'm shooting off our deck, making these birds about 6-7 meters in the air, I can't put up a background. Whatever you see behind them is simply the surrounding area. I am including an image which illustrates it more clearly.
