mcrodgers2 0 Posted July 25, 2003 Any and all comments welcome. Checkout my other take on this shotand rate both. I'm trying to decide which is the better photo. Link to comment
pedja 1 Posted July 25, 2003 This one is better. I just wish these trails extended all the way to the left. Link to comment
twmeyer 0 Posted July 25, 2003 You got a good shot, it is a great vantage point, but...it's also a great place to get robbed. Take a big friend (with a Glock) if you plan on doing this very often. Buy him a nice Louisville Slugger. A friend lost two Nikon F3's on tripods in about 20 tense seconds on that bridge... t Link to comment
mcrodgers2 0 Posted July 25, 2003 Please Check out my other attempt at this shot @ Atlanta from the Jackson Street Bridge . Just click on the colored hyper-text and rate both shots. Link to comment
twmeyer 0 Posted July 26, 2003 I just noticed you've been rated twice with 7's for originality, which is pretty funny since there have been thousands of sunset photos taken from this bridge. I know, no two sunsets are alike, but that's not because of anything the photographer might do. I'd go the otherway, and rate high for aesthetics... since you did pick the moment and composition, but low for originality... But I don't rate... t Link to comment
mcrodgers2 0 Posted July 26, 2003 Thanks Tom Meyer for the advice about the Jackson Street Bridge! LOL. I did meet a few interesting folks there. Most were friendly but I was watching my back the whole time. Yeah...you're right about the originality part. I'm relatively new to Atlanta so this spot is new to me but I've heard this local and vantage point has been photo'd to death. I'm still happy with it. Link to comment
kai_compagner 0 Posted July 26, 2003 There is no shame is photographing what's been photographed before. You're happy with it, so clearly you were right in taking it. Looking at both versions I like this one more, this is just the right balance of light. In the other the streetlights become a little dominant. It could also be worthwhile to try this location at dawn (assuming this is sunset), with the buildings reflecting the colored sky against a dark background. Anyway a nice picture, I have a slight regret about empty bottom left corner. Link to comment
fred_vnoucek 0 Posted August 1, 2003 Hi Michael .. I would prefer this one! excellent night shot, by the way ... Link to comment
kristian reinau 0 Posted August 13, 2003 Really nice photo I really like the cars drawing light lines in the foreground. I dont know if its possible, but it would be perfect if you could dodge some more details in the lower left corner, is quite black. Thats would just be a minor improvement, after all, the picture is really nice as it is! Link to comment
mandar kulkarni 0 Posted December 8, 2004 Hey, thanks for commenting on my photo. I liked this photo in comparison with the other one. The streak is more thin in here, looks more like fiber optic cables laid on the road. Good one. Liked the composition Link to comment
mcrodgers2 0 Posted February 6, 2011 I've come back to re-read the comments on this photo and after so much time they are still so very helpful.I've never printed this shot. Lately I've been thinking about printing some of my photos and I've always meant to print this one but never have. The comments here from everybody make me think that the best way to improve this shot is to do some croping to remove that black lower left corner. I recall that it was occupied by a patch of trees. Should have pointed up a bit higher and got more sky and less of that black spot.I know I was concentrated on the exposure time and the highway. I liked the lights on the left hand building but should have seen the black lower left and panned my camera to the right. However....I seem to recall a LARGE street lamp to the right that I had to avoid. Some skillfull cropping will improve this shot. I love this pic by the way. Brings back some very nice memories of Atlanta. Here in San Diego is very nice but I still often have Georgia on my mind. :-) Link to comment
