nick_fuegi 0 Posted July 25, 2003 Great picture. Did you use a lightning trigger to get it? If not, what was the shutter speed. Or, is it a montage? Nick Link to comment
nick_fuegi 0 Posted July 25, 2003 My apologies, I see the 30 sec exposure note. What time of day was this? It's just a bit of a shame that the lighning didn't light up the ground a bit and silhouette those cacti. Could they be brought out in Photoshop with a mask over the background? Nick Link to comment
dabar 0 Posted July 25, 2003 This was taken about 8:30 pm. It was quite dark and I doubt that much could be done with the forground. Sometimes that's just the way it is. I like to keep the look as close to what I saw as possible and seldom do any manipulation beyond that necessary to achieve that end. Link to comment
www.graemehird.com 0 Posted July 30, 2003 Nice capture Dave. I think in this instance the bushes in the lower left could have been left out of the scene. They detract from the clean lines of the distant mountains. Since you would have to find a new location to shoot from, you might also find one where the lights in the bottom right were also left out. They don't really define a township, so are really just a distraction. Cropping the top quarter of the image (ie making it more a panoramic aspect) would not go astray either. (I think I prefer this one to the one with the lighter foreground.) Regards, Graeme Link to comment
