A nice capture. I like the square crop. I would however reduce the sepia tone just a fraction. It looks just a tad over.

Cute moment. I think the monochrome treatment is more effective here rather than the colour version. With this one you can focus more on the activity, little girl following the chickens. I feel it's a little dark. I did a quick edit lightened, reduced saturation, sharpened the lower section and cloned out the tree limb at the bottom which I feel is a distraction.  Posted it here

I looked at your edited version .... first thank you for taking the time ... I always welcome suggestions .... I agree with you on removing that railing ... never really thought about it until you suggested removing it... I totally agree .... I personally still like my darker version... I wanted it to convey a drab cold autumn afternoon and deliberately kept it a bit on the less exposed side and also a bit less sharp which again gives it more of a surreal dreamlike feel....
