joe_garrick 0 Posted July 23, 2003 You know what to do - minor cleanup done in GIMP, plus cropping, otherwise this is pretty much what it looked like in the viewfinder. Link to comment

joe_garrick 0 Posted July 24, 2003 It's not fine art - it is just a snap shot. :) The question is whether or not anything should have been done differently to make it a better snap shot. Would a different crop, a higher or lower camera angle, a faster or slower shutter speed, some fill flash, or something else make it better, or is this as good as it gets for photos on a slip 'n slide? This would probably best be considered in the sports/action photo category. They're moving straight toward you at this position, and moving rather fast in some cases. I was somewhat wet after one roll, but managed to keep the camera dry. Anyway, I preferred a faster shutter speed, so shot at 1/1000 @ around f/5.6, prefocused near the finish line - and waited for the racers to pass through the focus point. I got about 6 keepers out of fifteen or twenty shots. In about half the misses I shot too early or late and missed the focus point (others had no faces - in one of them someone actually stepped in front of me from the side so I got a badly focused closeup of a leg), but if I'd tried for more DOF I would have been likely to end up with motion blur. Maybe that would have been OK. There are three others posted from the same roll of film. All were shot on the same day within about ten minutes. Link to comment
