What a scene! and one day I will have a chance to visit the USA South-West and see it for myself. The question is that when I visit, should I attempt to photograph what so many have done before me and with such expertise and with beautiful light or a dusting of snow.

 

Your light here was less than ideal for taking this shot and i have run into those situations myself when I was traveling.  You have an interesting sky with an opportunity to make it the 'center piece'. I tried playing with this version but you have lost highlight info in some areas of the sky.
