Picnicking with my partner on a lazy Tuesday afternoon, the stunning colour on this Swamphen had me reaching for the camera.

A good snap-capture of this hen that seems to be "stepping out" quite quickly.

For all their brightness of colour they prefer the depths of the lake plant life and are very skittish out in the open........ so congrats on this one.
