Encouraged the members of KPS to have a little fun tonight with

some abstract photography (a good way to fill a wet dark November

evening!) - here's one of my own efforts. What do you think? Show

me yours!

Is KPS a local photo club?  My husband and I belong to a photo club here, and this might be fun to try.  Can you tell us how you set this up for a group?    This is an amazing result.....very successful abstract.   I think the large number of colors you've incorporated really makes this more interesting.   I can see it being turned virtually any direction as well.  I looked at your others.....all are great!

Hi Christal - it's really easy to set up - I used a clear glass lid and with water and chill oil in it to create the droplets. The lid is then raised up from the surface by balancing it on a couple of wooden blocks to create space between the droplets and the background - a wide aperture then allows the background to become a more pleasing bokeh (IMHO!) - for the background I used a variety of gift wrap paper - this is a really nice foil paper with shiny butterflies on. I used small and large torches as my light source shining them directly on the paper from different angles. I also had a go with a CD shiny side up - you can get some very dramatic effects (check out my folder KPS abstract workshop for more examples).

It's a really easy workshop and the results can be quite pleasing, so give it a whirl. There are several examples on youtube if my explanation lacks clarity!

Enjoy!

Sorry it has taken me so long to respond to you!  You generous description of the process is more than I could have hoped for.  I love the spirit of sharing, and I'm always willing to do it.  Some people aren't, and I have to respect that.  Thanks for your time and guidance.
