Hi Jim:

This is great photoshop work without being "computery".

May I humbly suggest to make it all abstract. The only thing that bothers me is tha water being, well, too liquid. You can follow your skyline idea with the water. Maybe you can even crop off the water completely.

I disagree about making the water abstract, too. I like the smoothness of the water and feel it adds to the composition, rather than detracts. The shadow in the water from the statue provides a balance. Nice work, as usual.

Jim, the fact that you never got to the 'Bevel and Emboss' part was fortunate, because then the effect would have looked 'worked' (as does so much done in PhotoShop by those so-called 'designers' who are 'secondarily' photographers).

I love this image. The color and tones are perfect, and the grain works very well too.

 

I'll agree with another poster about the water, though. The thumbnail looks perfect, but full-size, I find the smoothness somewhat distracting. To me, it almost looks more like plastic than water.

 

Just for kicks, I opened this in PS and very slightly blurred the water and added a similar grain to it. I must say I like the more unified look.

 

It's pretty damn nice as-is, however!
