plangereis 0 Posted November 3, 2012 A shot I took last spring break at Arches National Park in southern Utah. I included a person in shadow within the arch to provide scale. Let em know what you think of the composition, and processing. Link to comment
treyhoff 0 Posted November 6, 2012 I love Arches! This appears to be captured midday because the light appears too harsh on the rocks which washes out the potential color. Early morning or early evening shots will really bring out the color and create a more dramatic mood. You could possibly bump up the saturation a bit to recover. The shot just seems more like a snapshot without evoking interest. I would suggest that you include a foreground element like a dead tree or rock. Crouching down low with the foreground and frame the Turret in respect to the foreground. It's taken me several visits to Arches to learn to capture these types of images with more interest. Sorry to be critical, just trying to help. Link to comment
plangereis 0 Posted November 12, 2012 Hi Trey. Thanks for your comments. I actually took this shot at about 9 am. You are right, though, about this shot not being as good as it could have been. Well, I guess that means I will have to go back sometime! LOL! Take care. Link to comment
