Hi Gail,

What a nice image. well shot and presented. Wonderful artistc value.

Hi, Gail! Wonderful objects to photograph! You did a great job. You know I talked to my mom (she is back home, in Belarus). She proudly told me that she hired smbdy to replace the old fence we had since I was a child. She told me that it was falling apart and looked ugly. I could understand her, but I cried: I whish I could take a picture of every hole that fence had - it is so dear to my heart! Imagine, I come home and one of the connections I had - is gone.... I already don't recognize my town,my school, my street... I am gone, I guess...

Warm regards, Tamara

I understand fully what you mean!!! I recall going back to visit towns and homes I once lived in as a child. Many had such special memories attached to them, and when you go back - it is never the same. Everything changes, at least almost everything. Being so far from your 'beloved home' and family' would be very hard for me. I admire all those who decide to travel to a foreign land and make it their home, especially when their close family is not there. But hopefully they can afford to go back (that is if they want to). Although my Mom passed in 2011, and I still miss her so, I was so fortunate to have her with me all these years. At one point Mom and Dad lived about 5 hours from us, long drive, but at least we were in the same Province. Thank you for your visit Tamara!

When I think of all the old things we keep and treasure, especially things we are fond of, it has made me think of all the thousands of people in New York and New Jersey who have lost EVERYTHING. I have talked a bit online with Donna S, who is one of our FRIENDS on PN, and she was affected quite a bit by that storm. I was so worried for her. I don't know many who are in those States, there is Warren Kaplan who I am pretty sure lives on Long Island, I have to check his Portfolio to see if he has been online. I worried about him in the storm as well.

As I have done my housework over the last few weeks, I have been packing up 'treasures' to pass down to my children and grandchildren, I keep so much 'stuff', and you can only have so much. But most of the things I keep are passed down from Family. I know my children will cherish these things, but in the BIG PICTURE, how quickly they can disappear. The things to really cherish are each other. All too often when life is 'good' we often forget to tell those who mean so much to us, just how much they mean to us. I pray that all of those who are on PN that I have not known live in States affected by the storm(s), are OK, and that life will soon be 'warmer, safer, and may your feelings of security that must have been damaged as well, be restored'. I know I stayed up all night when the storm was hitting New York and New Jersey, not so far from us, and we we spared, just a bit of wind and rain. We may not be so fortunate next time. We all must count our blessings.
