Gail,

This is a wonderful little puppy and his desire for human contact and love is all very apparent in his expression.  It epitomizes the love for humans that the canine species exhibits.  I would suggest, however,  that your subject needs the feeling of softness and here you have apparently sharpened the image to the point of losing said softness.  Notice that both the muzzle of the puppy and the background with its screen-like pattern destroy that soft feeling.

I noticed that Jerry. I used a 'special plugin' that sharpens and resizes for the web, and I think I need to review it further to see if I can adjust the amount of sharpness. It is odd though, the sharpness seems only prevalent in the muzzle and not the rest of the image. I found the ears to be very soft, but that is where they were a bit out of focus. I have found that when I resize for the web, some of my images are too soft. This is something I will have to study, but I do thank you for your comment. You are entirely right.

Yes,is a sadness on his eyes and expression and this is the mood of this composition, who knows how many of them do not have a good life.

Concerning your technique I like how you did this canvas, texture and carefully worked around him, nice one.

I remember my dog when he was young like this pup and I feel all golden retrievers have this particular stare that reflects their pleasant attitude and versatile intelligence. Excellent capture, Gail and well created image.

He is just incredible, I would love to hold him and pat him, but I know how young puppies are, all jumpy :). Great photo and  great capture and full of feelings, and don't let me start on the textures... Love it!!!

Your humble student in textures,

Hi Gail,

Technically spot on. Using this zoom lens at F/4.5 represents the best that this lens can do with your camera. The results are sharp where they need to be.

Your creativity to develop this dog with the surrounding scene further enhances the viewing experience.

Warmest Regards,  Mike

Hi Gail,

This shot mirrors your love and concern for dogs.  Yes, he is pleading and is so cute.  I love the way you have the dog popping forward out of the image.  And, you sharp capture of his whiskers and hair around the mouth creates wonderful emphasis.  Also, the canvas-like background you have created adds real interest.   Best to you as we head for winter.
