A lovely specimen!  Although others are much more qualified than me to offer suggestions, I tried a few things with this.  I wonder if the right side adds much to the image.  So I tried a square crop to eliminate some of it.   I also straightened the image a bit to make the grain of the wood parallel with the edge of the frame.  Then a simple levels adjustment and a little contrast were added. Just some ideas for you to ponder......not better or worse necessarily.
