Guest Guest Posted July 16, 2003 Those eyes just leaving me laughing Phil and leave me wondering what is going through that young man's head as you snapped the shutter on this one. The DOF is great for emphasizing the principal subject, while leaving us with some interesting elements of the surroundings, particularly the older gentleman on the left. I'm quite interested in knowing more, Phil. If you're so inclined, please let me know how this one came about. Another one of your good ones Phil, showing us the dry wit of the everyday. erin_____grasshopper__rice 0 Posted July 20, 2003 I want pictures like this. Curse my stupid little camera. But, I'm off the subject. Great shot, neat portrait..I'm sure the parents would love to to have a copy. I can't complain about this. It's really good looking. You rock, Phil. Link to comment
erin_____grasshopper__rice 0 Posted July 22, 2003 LOL! Phil- I'm going to answer you, but I just needed to come over and tell you, I just read so much more into his expression now! It's hilarious. Weird how the picture can change when you find out the details. lol. Link to comment
carol_watson 0 Posted July 23, 2003 I like this shot. It captures perfectly what I'm guessing that he's thinking: "Piss off with the feckin' camera, will yah?!"..... :-) I enjoy the subtle pleasantry and wit in many of your photos. Link to comment
philmorris 0 Posted July 23, 2003 Hi folks, thanks for your thoughts. It's time to come clean. Far from sneaking about shoving my camera unsuspectingly in kiddies' faces (and as I explained to Erin after reading her comment "I'm sure the parents would love to have a copy"), photog and father are all rolled into one. This fella is my eleven year old, Joe. The sunlight was streaming in from the large window to my left and a moment arrived when just he and his grandad were in the foyer cafe. I called to Joe as he was taking a swig, he swung around ... and click. It wold be so untypical of him if he he had put the glass down. And yes those eyes of his have said those words to me many times before now. In fact the cheeky little urchin has got it into his head (encouraged by his mother) that he can playfully rebuke me most times he sees me without a camera! Link to comment
erin_____grasshopper__rice 0 Posted July 24, 2003 Yes, after reading your note- I saw a "Daaaad" expression in his eyes. I have been SO busy Phil. I'm going to reply to your mail- I've just been very lucky to manage the 5 minutes I have for PN.. (which technically I don't have). I was actually going to tell you not to tell anyone you were the dad, for reasons I'll explain in my email, though they may not apply to you. Anyway- *sigh* I've gotta go again! Has your boy seenm this picture? What did he think? Link to comment
