I tried combining bracketed exposures of this scene (Previously posted as

Landscape # 60) to bring out detail in the foreground. Is this an

improvement or did I make it worst?

Since the focus is on the foreground , it's good.

I did not realise at first how out of focus everything beyond the highest grass was until I looked closely at the full size photo, I will pretend that I did this on purpose for artistic effect! If this was bigger than 640 x 480 it would be very obvious that I just made a user error....

It's a definite improvement, IMO.  You've taken a large, featureless area that teased us with a few stems and exchanged it for an area with detail of grass receiving the early sun.  The clouds are better defined as well.  It's a great example of what digital processing can do for a photograph.
