Thanks, Patsy.  This asphalt resurfacing machine was right in front of my house when I came home from work a few afternoons ago.  I had the low sun at my back when I took the photo, but while I was bicycling home, I was coming from the east, and from that direction, the whole neighborhood had the kind of luminous haze that Rarindra Prakarsa uses so well in his photos from Indonesia.

Excellent description. Co. I worked for did the striping after the asphalt was layed. In the summer months it's as you described.
