Recently got back from the Grand Canyon and would like to learn how to

improve. This was my first time taking landscape pictures and I am looking for

feedback for improving both by camera technique and editing skills.

 

All suggestions would be appreciated. And please be brutally honest.

It's a good shot of the tree, but you had really difficult conditions in the canyon -- some very bright areas, and lots of haze (probably due to smoke).  I'd like to see more of the canyon in a shot like this, but I'm not sure how it could have been done.  Looks like you have another shrub to the left.  You probably need more contrast in the canyon, and I'd keep looking for the best viewpoints.  This has the right elements; they just need to come together a bit better, IMO.
