Untitled Sky and Sea

I intentionally left the image this dark to bring out the effect of the reflections.

I took it at the same exact beach I take all my other shots from. :) It was very late day, when the sun finally sinks low enough to dapple the wet sand with its color and reflect it.

The color version I took is pretty, but I find this image is more about texture and light than color, so I feel a grayscale is more of an impact.

Laura:

You have a great deal of talent and have a lot of intelligent insight as is noted by my rating of your images. Get rid of the anger, it can kill a serious artist. The days of the Abstract Expression mentality are over. Please take these comments as constructive. You have great potential.

Technical details: I intentionally left the image this dark to bring out the effect of the reflections.
So I am wondering now, did you read the little tech detail thingy and you still think its too dark, or did you not read the little tech thingy and just think it's too dark? :)
Let me know :)Thanks for all the comments so far! Please keep them coming!

what really grabs me is the layer of clouds right below your bright spot in the sky - absolutely captivating - if this were blown up to a large mural size, I could study those clouds for quite some time... I like the high contrast, and you were very effective in isolation the reflection and linking it with the sun - gorgeous! (ps. isn't it time for a new self portrait in your profile? )

i would call it moonlight sonata. your intention is well brought out here. i dont care the sky is not sharp. the isolation of the reflection on the beach is the main point of interest. obviously unrrated, but to me a good image.

Looks so much like real film,I must say I have not seen such strong B&W from digital, so I think this turn out rather good. I would like to see a stronger focus point that would make it extra special.

Gorgeous shot, Laura. The sky is gorgeous, and the serpentine reflection on the sand could not be painted any better.

You had noted me a while back, and so I came to see what your photos were like, and this one..has me floored. I love it so, I truly do. I know nothing of photo taking, but what you have done here is lovely. Indeed

This shot is proof that photography is about discovery and adventure, the discovery here is how different this shot is from the scene it was unraveled from since it probably only existed in your mind's eye, if ever.

looks like you colored the sand with a giant, iridescent pen. Is this Coney? I want to go where ever it is . . . don't know if I'd have a chance of making a shot like this though.

This almost looks like something that could have been done by Ansel Adams or Edward Weston.

But I agree that it's a bit underexposed.

Anger is good BTW. If you're not pissed off you're not paying attention :)
