jim_j2 9 Posted September 9, 2012 It's a Racoon on the little point of the Lake early yesterday morning at daybreak with a bit of fog on the lake due to the cooler temperatures. Too bad his back was turned toward me, I wish he had been broadside but it just didn't happen! Still, I thought the outcome interesting with the fog and the way the light was bouncing off the lake and the overhanging limbs. If you look very close, you can see a lone Duck to the right of the Racoon in the fog. Thanks for taking the time to view, comment/critique, rate and, for allowing me the opportunity to share. Thanks again, Jim j. Link to comment
Pierre Dumas 313 Posted September 10, 2012 I don't see the raccoon, but it all has a mood! Best regards Jim! PDE Link to comment
aqualarue 0 Posted September 10, 2012 I agree with Pierre, it's painterly and moody. Pity the racoon spoils it! Just kidding, but actually it's a good creative image without the racoon. The blocked up shadows to the left add flavour I think. Link to comment

gamini_wettewe 0 Posted September 16, 2012 One of you best shots Jim. The bright sun on the water may be blurring the Racoon, I would have cut the bright part of the image and focused on the Racoon itself, by getting a closeup.RegardsGamini Link to comment
hstelljes 41 Posted October 11, 2012 Hi Jim, There's just something magical about this shot and I'm pretty sure it stems from the light and shadowy surroundings. As harsh as that light on the water is it does not distract from enjoying this image. It has mood or atmoshere whichever term you prefer. So well done and keep em' coming.Best,Holger Link to comment
Christal1664882414 0 Posted October 12, 2012 Ordinarily that bright white spot would bother me, but for some reason it doesn't in this image. It's a great mood shot with wonderful colors and effect. I actually thought it might be a bear at first. :-) I wondered what it would look like with less black space to the left, so I worked up another version. Not better or worse.....just another idea. jim_j2 9 Posted October 12, 2012 Many thanks for your comments and my apologies for the delayed response!Initially I was very disappointed with all the shots I had taken on this outing, and this one was about to join all the others in the "delete bin!" But, as you all have pointed out in some manner . . . "It has a mood to it!" so I kept it. I've seemed to have fallen into a "rut" lately, . . . and most are going into the delete bin! Actually, there is very little post processing here and the dark shadows to the left hand side of the frame are natural, as is the blown out highlights where the sunlight is striking the fog and the surface of the water.I did attempt to enhance the lone Duck about 10 feet to the right of the Raccoon, just below the overhanging branches and at the top of the blown out area. But, he's nearly as hard to define as the Raccoon!I was shooting almost directly into the rising sun as it came over the hills of the distant lake shore. Again, many thanks for your visits!Jim j.
