The composition is good, but that flying piece of cardboard is what makes the image. Otherwise it would be something easily forgotten. Good catch Jack.

This is like the levitating girl, but with not as much work. You did not have to do the jumping. Funnily the trees do not seem to be so interested about the wind...

Excellent, Jack! What a moment. It is difficult to catch the moment, but you had also time to make a very good composition and adjustment of light to the main detail;-)

viewing folder in slideshow,,this one catched me immediately,,do i have to ask why,//,,it´s a room for jumping into your world,,the things which looks like home but are quite different,,it is a flash shot but the flying cardboard tells a different story,,it looks empty,,but we know cars driving here , people passing the frame next moment,,,all the things not showing, creates the shot worth looking at,,it´s the lack of answers we are looking for,,,,,shotslanguage for advanced phots,,:) nn

For years now, one of my favorite (and famous) street photographs taken in Chicago was this one by Yasuhiro Ishimoto:

I'm not into replicating famous photographs, but I was willing to make an exception in this case because it enchanted me so much.  To date, the opportunity has never presented itself to me.  And now, here before me, Jack McRitchie has captured something similiar is own unique style.

Looks like you even caught the shadow no less.  Damn.

As I first looked at this made me think of a video recording in the movie American Beauty, where a empty plastic bag circled around among fallen leaves. I wonder if you have seen that movie as well?

Markku - Yeah, I have seen the movie but I don't specifically remember that scene. This is nothing new because my memory nowadays seems pretty spotty at best. Still, I'm sure I'm influenced by everything I come across in one way or another. I think we all are. Trying to catch that sort of random animation, a paper flying through the air or leaves swirling in the wind or, as in this case, a square of cardboard bounding across the street has always fascinated me. It's the fleeting, random moment stopped and made specific that I find interesting for some reason.

Thats why I like your pics Jack. They are found, not staged. It;s that aspect of photography I enjoy most.
