The enchanted forest #10

gauthier

Absolutely no PS tricks here. Two slides were shot at the same spot, one in focus, the other not, and mounted in the same frame (this technique is often called a slide sandwich). The in focus shot was overexposed by two stops, the out of focus one, by one stop. Scanned from the original slide with Minolta Dimage Dual Scan III. Tripod + cable release. Uncropped.

Thanks to all the great folks at the Vertelance medieval gathering who enthousistically accepted to pose for this series. I really had a great week end!

This image caught my eye - the color saturation is really stunning, and the effect is interesting. This might form an interesting basis for some digital tricks. Thanks for sharing.

What about this one? The slide montage technique (read the notes)

provides unsurpassed saturation, but creates some registration

problems. By centering the subject somewhat, the registration problem

is less severe, but the composition is a bit less dynamic. Make sure

you visit the rest of the folder for other samples of the slide

montage technique.

I work with sandwiches a lot and I really like what you have done here. The areas of focus are right on. I might like the arm toned down a little and the face brightened a smidge. Wonderful work.

Congratulations on such a lovely image. I like how the sharpness of the foliage "dapples" in and out of focus. Her dark red outfit is a lovely contrast with the green of the fern. I thought this was done with a diffuser lens at first!

This really caught my attention. Being an amateur, I had never heard of "sandwiching" and still don't really understand but hopefully will learn with time. You have a beautiful portfolio. Thank you.
