Excellent work! I wish I could tell what to improve but don't really find anything here. Catchlights in the eyes maybe? Well worth a 6. Congrats!

Amer,

Nicely done portrait. Good focus and exposure. Very nice expression. Excellent contrast. The background is nicely neutral and he is well separated from the background. The lighting is good. The composition is well done. Very good contrast.

Have him adjust his tie so that it is straight and pulled up tight to his collar.

Remove the lint (dust spots) on his hat and jacket.

Catchlights would add life to your portrait and draw more attention to his eyes.

If not making eye contact with the camera (viewer), the eyes should follow the line of the nose. It is natural to look where your head is pointing. If looking off to the side you should show what he is looking at or provide a reason that he is not looking where his head is pointing. It is best to have at least some of the whites of the eyes showing on each side of the irises. This helps to make the eyes look balanced.

Good shot,

Mark

Yes, I think Mark made some good points, but sometimes breaking the rules is what it takes to get attention.  I think the eyes looking off to the side is what made this image stand out from the crowd for me.  Leaving the finer points aside, it's still very well done, and an interesting image.

Regards, Tom

Fantastic Amer.  This is my favourite shot of Yasir.  I agree with Tom Miller that 'sometimes breaking the rules is what it takes to get attention and the eyes looking off to the side is what made this image stand out from the crowd'.  You have a very creative eye. Change the title to 'what are you looking at?' (from Sarah)

Tom Miller, was right about breaking the rules, but thinking about the rules, and understanding the role its important then break the rules become purpose to achieve what you want..thank you Tom ,Scuba and Yas and Ihave changed the title as well just for Sarah.
