Morning Butterfly

I was out early this morning to "scout" the Lewis & Clark State Park for

Bald Eagles this year with my 100-400 mounted when I came upon this

Butterfly on a wild Sunflower and thought I'd give it a try.

 

This is just as it came out of the camera except for a slight crop on the

right hand side of the frame. No Saturation, Sharpening or Contrast

added.

Was shot 90 degrees from the sun to produce the blue sky.

 

Is there something in the post processing I should have done?

Is this a Monarch Butterfly?

Love that bright blue sky!  It certainly caught my eye.

You asked a couple of questions.

 

Yes, it is a Monarch.

 

Should you have done anything in post? I don't think so, though I'm my experience with post processing is limited. The colors are vibrant. I think there can be a great tendancy to mess with pictures unnecessarily. I may have left a bit more on the right, but you served your sense in this.

 

I've seen exactly these elements in my yard with that cerulean sky. It doesn't need any help. Sometimes when I see these things in front of me I feel dared by nature to get it right. You did just that.Nice simple clean shot. Thanks for sharing.
