jimmcnitt 0 Posted July 10, 2003 I may not be the only one who goes to New York, Felix. But when the weather's like this, I rather be in Connecticut! You've really captured -- or perhaps created is a better verb -- a Manhattan mood which proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that the New Times Square can be every bit as Gotham as the old. The composition is great and the toning, which seems to involve both gray and warmer brown hues, is really excellent, as is your lightening bolt. The only minor flaw, to my eye, are the feathered transitions around the sides of the buildings. It's just the sides, the tops are fine because there's usually a slight "loom" to be found there on foggy nights. And as a connisseur of gloomy skies, this one has a bit of a Render>Clouds feel. Now I happen to know from experience that if you want to photograph a real grandaddy of a gloomy thunderstorm sky, all you have to do is drive to New Jersey! I think you're on to a unique look with this -- let me know when you post the next one. Best, Jim Link to comment
alberto.conde 0 Posted July 11, 2003 Indeed he's not the only one to go there with the camera at hand and the photogrphjic eye to capture such a moment. Great one with those warm tones on the buildings. Link to comment
mmmee 0 Posted July 11, 2003 Very nice tones to this. I like the geometrics and the moody sky. Link to comment
felix-diaz 0 Posted July 14, 2003 Sure...there usually is a lot of "noise" in the sky in thunderstorms. Link to comment
david_pichevin 0 Posted January 12, 2004 Very nice. Great mood. The sepia tone works very well. The lines and details are excellent. Just seems like it was the perfect moment to capture this. Link to comment
